Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 5, 2026

Rock & Lamp Press (“we,” “us” or “our”) is a Christian publisher based in Alberta, Canada. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit rockandlamppress.ca, join our email list, or contact us, including about church, ministry and bulk-order interest.

Our website is currently a Coming Soon site. Orders and pre-orders are not open. We will update this policy before introducing purchasing or materially different uses of personal information.

Information we collect and why

  • Launch email signup: your email address, signup details and consent or subscription preferences, so we can send the book release announcements and launch updates you request and manage your subscription.
  • Inquiries: your name, email address, message and any organization, phone number or book interests you provide. We use this information to respond, discuss your interest and keep relevant correspondence. Organization and book interests are requested on the ministry form; a phone number is optional.
  • Website activity: Shopify and its service providers collect technical and usage information, which can include IP address, approximate location, browser and device details, cookie identifiers, referring pages and pages viewed. This supports site operation, security, troubleshooting, performance measurement and the Shopify services described below.

The subjects of our books can be personal. You do not need to describe your religious beliefs, health, recovery history or other sensitive circumstances to browse or subscribe. Please avoid sending medical records or personal information about another person. If you choose to include sensitive details in an inquiry, we use them to address that inquiry, subject to the service-provider processing described below.

Publishing inquiries, not a care service

Our forms and inbox are for publishing and resource inquiries. They are not clinical intake, counselling or emergency services. Do not wait for a response when urgent help is needed. Describe resource needs without naming the people you serve, and do not submit health records, recovery histories, identity documents, payment details or another person’s private information.

Consent and email choices

We collect, use and disclose personal information for the purposes explained here, with consent where required by applicable Canadian privacy law, including Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act where applicable. We will explain a new purpose and obtain additional consent where required.

Signing up for launch emails is optional. Sending an inquiry does not, by itself, subscribe you to marketing emails. You can withdraw email consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us. We process unsubscribe requests without delay and no later than 10 business days. We may retain a limited suppression record and evidence of consent to respect your choice and meet legal requirements. Withdrawing marketing consent does not prevent us from answering a question you send us.

Shopify hosting and Network Intelligence

Our website is hosted by Shopify. Information you submit to the site and information about your use of it are shared with Shopify and relevant service providers to operate and secure the site, manage subscriptions and communications, and provide Shopify services.

Shopify Network Intelligence is currently enabled. Shopify combines customer information from our store with information from interactions with other merchants and Shopify to provide Enhanced Services, including improvements to products, security, personalization and advertising targeting. Shopify may process information for these services under its own privacy policy, as well as process information on our behalf to run the site.

Read Shopify’s Consumer Privacy Policy for details. You can use Shopify’s Privacy Portal to learn about and exercise available choices, including opting out of Shopify’s sharing of information for advertising purposes or requesting deletion.

Cookies and similar technologies

Shopify uses cookies and similar technologies for essential site functions and security, and for analytics, personalization or other Enhanced Services according to the settings and consent choices that apply. For more information, see Shopify’s Cookie Policy.

Where a cookie consent banner or privacy controls are presented, you can use them to manage optional uses and revisit your choices. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser, although some site functions may be affected. Browser cookie controls alone may not stop every form of processing; Shopify’s Privacy Portal provides additional choices. Contact us with questions about the privacy controls available to you.

When information is shared

We use service providers for website hosting, business email, subscription management, communications and technical support. They receive information relevant to those services. We do not sell or rent our mailing list. Shopify’s Enhanced Services may involve data sharing for advertising as explained above, with choices available through Shopify’s Privacy Portal.

We may also disclose information with your authorization, where required or permitted by law, to respond to valid legal requests, or as reasonably necessary to protect legal rights and address fraud or security incidents. We limit disclosures to the information appropriate to the circumstances.

Processing outside Canada

Shopify identifies our store’s data hosting location as the United States. Shopify and its service providers may also process information in Canada, Ireland, Singapore and other countries identified in Shopify’s current subprocessor list, depending on the services involved. These providers support platform operation, hosting, communications, security and related Shopify services, including Enhanced Services.

Information processed abroad may be accessible to courts, law enforcement or other authorities under the laws of those countries. We remain responsible for personal information under our control and use contractual and other appropriate measures for service-provider processing. Contact our privacy contact below to ask about our policies and practices for providers outside Canada or to obtain further information about their purposes and locations.

Retention and safeguards

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, relevant follow-up, security, legal obligations or resolving a dispute. Subscription information is kept while you remain subscribed, with limited records retained after withdrawal as described above. Inquiry information is kept for responding and relevant follow-up; it is not kept indefinitely simply because you contacted us. Service-provider logs and backups follow applicable provider retention and deletion processes.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, and restrict access to those who need it for authorized purposes. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it, subject to lawful retention requirements. We assess privacy incidents and provide notifications or reports where required by applicable law.

Your access, correction and privacy requests

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, how it has been used or disclosed, request access, and ask us to correct inaccuracies. You may also withdraw consent or request deletion, subject to legal and practical limits. We may need reasonable information to verify your identity; please do not send identity documents unless we request an appropriate verification method.

We respond within the timelines required by the law that applies. If an exception, lawful extension or retention requirement limits your request, we explain it as required. Contact us first with any concern so we can investigate. You may also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as appropriate.

Children and third-party websites

Our email signup and inquiry services are intended for adults, including parents and ministry leaders. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through these services. A parent or guardian who believes a child has submitted information can contact us to request its removal. Links to other websites are governed by those websites’ privacy practices.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or privacy practices change. We show the revision date above, provide additional notice of material changes where appropriate, and seek consent for new uses where required.
